Precision Rifle and 1000-Yard Long Range “Sniper” Course (1 Day)
Every Day I hear this question: Where can I go to shoot my rifle at long range, like 1000 yards? The answer? You found it, right here!
This course is intended as an introduction to long range shooting and is focused on the fundamentals of basic long range shooting skills. This course is geared for the beginner to intermediate long range shooter but should offer some value for more experienced shooters as well. Students will begin by zeroing at known distances, then move to unknown distance shooting and will focus on range estimation, wind compensation and other skills useful for unknown distance long range shooting.
The course is taught in a manner to promote the transfer of knowledge with emphasis on quality shooting, not quantity. This course is open to LE, Military and Civilians. There is a decent amount of walking and other physical stresses including potentially hot and cold temperatures as well as wet weather, so please be prepared. The class will be limited to 10 students to promote safety, better learning and full understanding of the principles being taught.
We highly encourage students to zero at the Tombstone Range before the class, to test your rifle, scope, ammo and other related gear.
The class will begin at 0800 hours at Tombstone Gun Range and Training Center (12121 Skyline Drive Marion, IL), and will then proceed to our private long-range facility. This course will last approximately 10 hours.
Any Quality precision rifle will be allowed in the course. Please don’t kid yourself into thinking that your $200 rifle with a $50 scope will work for this course. Your gun will break and you will be stuck watching everyone else having fun. You will be required to have the Instructors evaluate your rifle/scope/ammo before the course. This is just a preemptive strike against the so many equipment failures we see due to inferior gear and the rigors of shooting a lot of large caliber ammo.
